Curriculum

At Whitecliffe Academy, we aim to ensure that our pupils receive the best education possible – an education that develops our pupils into resilient, life- long learners, who have strong ambition and moral purpose.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum at Whitecliffe which delivers our vision of ‘outcomes focused, child centred’. Our knowledge-rich and skill based curriculum is complemented by a range of enrichment opportunities that broaden and extend the experience for all our pupils.

Our curriculum focusses on linking learning to real-life experiences and providing opportunity to develop vocabulary and embed and apply new learning in a range of contexts. We believe our curriculum, which brings our pupils’ learning to life, is designed to give all our pupils the opportunity to develop as enquiring individuals who feel valued and respected, so that they in turn, learn to value those around them by creating an environment that fosters friendship, co-operation and high quality learning.

High expectations are set for every pupil, through the development of a curriculum that allows all children to thrive. Extra support is provided for those children who require it to allow them to overcome barriers in learning. This support may take many different forms: differentiation, precision teaching or emotional support strategies. These steps ensure their needs are met and closes gaps in knowledge, skills and understanding.

Through our curriculum we aim to raise the aspirations of our pupils and inspire them to pursue and achieve their dreams.
